My name is Pastor Daniel Miranda and I am so glad to be a part of the leadership team here at Auburn First. I have been married for nearly three decades to a wonderful servant of the Lord, Sheila, who is also an ordained minister. We were both ordained at the same service in 1991 while we were serving our first church in Wisconsin. We have three adult children who continually bring us joy.
Auburn First is the fourth church I have served. My first pastorate was in Beloit, Wisconsin at an American Baptist Church. In Wisconsin, I also worked as a drug and alcohol counselor serving a total of eight years as pastor and counselor. From there, the Lord opened opportunities for my family to go the Philippines where I served as a missionary educator in a Bible college on Negros Island for four years.
After returning from overseas, we found ourselves in Waterville, Washington at a multi-denominational church where we lived and served for 12 years and where I once again served as a drug and alcohol counselor for about two years. During those 12 years I also served as interim pastor at Pateros United Methodist Church soon after the fires ravaged that community in 2014.
I enjoy serving in the local community. Over the years it has been my pleasure to serve as volunteer EMT, on the chamber of commerce, on a local school board and scholarship committees amongst other things. I also enjoy playing music, especially with my family. The guitar is my favorite instrument.
It is a joy to serve Auburn First and the Auburn community. I am blessed to be counted worthy to serve the Lord in the local church and this community, to serve as a representative of his love to a hurting world and to remind us all of the joy God can bring.
Children’s, Youth and Family Life Ministries Director
Crystal has been a member of Auburn First United Methodist for over 15 years and during that time has been an active volunteer teacher in the Sunday school program, Vacation Bible School and many other children’s programs. She has held many volunteer leadership roles in the church as well as in the community. Her community involvement includes being a founding board member and co-chair of the Auburn Public Schools Foundation, Autism Speaks team leader, and Auburn Mountainview High School Drama Booster Club Chair. She has a special place in her heart for children with developmental disabilities due to her son’s ongoing struggle with autism.
She answered her call to ministry in November of 2009 when she learned that there would be no Children’s Christmas Pageant due to the lack of a Christian Education Director. She prayerfully considered returning to work after 15 years as a stay-at-home Mom, Crystal applied for the position and was hired on February 1, 2010. In September of 2011 the opportunity arose to take on the leadership of Auburn First’s youth group, Reality Youth. This has brought her profound joy to serve the youth of this church. She loves her job and it brightens her life to help children, youth and adults to deepen their knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ. She considers it a tremendous privilege to serve the children, youth and adults of Auburn First UMC and through the grace of God she hopes to continue for many years to come.
Crystal has been married for 22 years and has two young adult children. In her spare time, she loves to explore family history, scrapbook and sew costumes for Auburn Mountainview Theatre Company. Her favorite color is purple and her favorite book of the Bible is Romans. She hopes one day to travel again to her second home the United Kingdom.
Office Manager/ Pastoral Secretary
Hi! My name is Kim Baker and I’m the office administrator for Auburn First United Methodist Church. My family and I joined this wonderful faith community in 2000 and I have been on staff since 2004--the last seven years working as the office administrator. I love working here in the office. I get to meet visitors to our wonderful church and give assistance in any way I can to church members and friends. I love what I do!
My husband Rich and I have been married 24 years and have two daughters—one in college and one in high school. They have grown up in Auburn First United Methodist Church and it has played an integral part in the young women they are becoming! Because we are transplants to the west coast (both my husband and I are from the east coast) AFUMC has become our extended family. The congregation has helped us and embraced us in so many ways. We feel the love and return it wholeheartedly.
So…if you are out and about during the weekday mornings, stop by Auburn First United Methodist Church and say Hi! I’ll be here!
