Improving Church Building Security

Over the last year, a lot has changed at Auburn First including the welcoming of several new members and building renters.  Through this process, the Board of Trustees has realized that our current door codes have not been refreshed in many years and we no longer have a full record of who has access. To help keep our church building safe and secure for our members and all those who gather in our space, the Trustees have approved the implementation of a new door access pass code system for the Social Hall/parking lot door.

Under the new system, each person who requires building access will be assigned their own unique door code. Along with this change, we are introducing a Code Management Policy, modeled after our existing key policy. Everyone receiving a code will be asked to review and acknowledge this policy with a signature.

Key Points of the Policy

  • Keep your pass code private and secure.

  • Do not share your code with anyone else.

  • Report any concerns about access immediately to the church office.

Who Will Receive Access Codes

Access codes will be assigned to individuals who need regular building access, including:

  • Office and pastoral staff

  • Church Council members

  • Committee/Ministry chairs and co-chairs

  • Points of contact for renting organizations

Committee chairs/co-chairs will be given a code with the expectation that they will manage access for their committee members, rather than each member receiving a separate code.

How to Receive Your Code

Access code acknowledgments and your personal code will be available for pickup:

  • After church services on October 26 and November 2

  • At the church office during regular office hours

Please plan to review and sign the acknowledgment form when you receive your new

code.

Previous codes will no longer work after Sunday, November 9th.

We know that change can be complicated so we greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we take these steps to ensure our building remains a safe and welcoming space for all who serve and gather here. Thank you for helping us care for and protect our church!
