Just in Time Blessings

In the book of Genesis, God calls Abraham to leave his homeland and to go to the land God will show him. Then God says that God will bless Abraham so that he may bless others (Genesis 12:1-3). Over the last few weeks, I have been amazed by all the ways that God continues to bless us. God has shown up in our community in so many ways, from new people walking through our doors to skills that manifest right when we need them, and gifts of hope. We have been blessed beyond anything we could have dreamed up two years ago.  In the next couple of weeks, I will say more about this, but today I want to highlight a gift that has been given to us at just the right time.

At Easter, we unveiled our updated logo. The new design is meant to show a sunrise, reminding us that we are Easter People and that new life is always springing up. The mosaic pieces are of different sizes and colors, reminding us that humanity is diverse in many ways. Yet, like a mosaic, when we come together, we form something beautiful, the people of God!

Communion ware made by Leigh Starr

Last week, Leigh Starr presented us with two new cups and a plate marked with our logo’s colors and design. As we celebrate communion this week, may we not forget that while we are a diverse group of people with different skills, abilities, and gifts, when we are united in God, we become the one body of Christ.

We will use Leigh’s gift to our community for the first time on Sunday. If you see him, please say thank you for using his skill and talent to remind us that when we give of our gifts to care for our neighbors, we bless one another and the world.

May God’s blessings continue to surprise you!
